Last year the Chief Technology Officer at Safe Ice Healthcare, John Broadbent, got sued by his former employers, Scotsman Industries and Mile High Equipment LLC, for allegedly stealing trade secrets and taking them to his new job at Robert Almblad’s Origin Tech LLC and Safe Ice Healthcare.
According to court papers filed in the U.S. District Court in Colorado on April 3, 2012:
“If Defendant [Broadbent] has been engaged to perform services for any person or entity engaged (or planning to become engaged) in the manufacturer, design or sales of equipment for making, handling, transporting or dispensing ice, or the manufacture, design or sale of improvements to such equipment, Plaintiffs will likely wish to depose them as well.”
Also added to the deposition list is Kevin Fink, President of Mile High Equipment LLC.
Mr. Fink was a key spokesman for Scotsman Ice at the February 28, 2012 teleconference conducted by NSF International, an independent not-for-profit organization which develops safety and certification standards to protect the public health. During that teleconference, Mr. Fink and his expert witnesses systematically exposed the misinformation campaign being run against them by Almblad and company.
Based on what we learned from the NSF teleconference and what we already knew about Broadbent’s job at Safe Ice Healthcare, it looks like this is about to get very interesting for Almblad and his staff!
